Picturing Hastings:
Local Photographers Enrich the Society’s Archives

Forty-three local photographers contributed more than 100 photos of Hastings today in response to the Society’s call for photos that depict the village in 2014. The Historical Society’s first juried photo competition, entered by shutterbugs of all ages and by both amateurs and professionals, has produced a collection that will enrich our vast archive of images. Our Judges

Tim Lamorte has been the editor of The Rivertowns Enterprise since 1999. He is a lifelong resident of Westchester County, and enjoys photographing significant images of the Rivertowns and surrounding area.

Jeanne Newman grew up in Hastings. She taught photography for 34 years, 24 of which were at Hastings High School. She is a professional photographer and the Founder/Executive Director of Project SHARE, a clearinghouse of social action opportunities for students of all ages. SHARE's signature event is the Thanksgiving dinner for the homeless, which will be celebrating its silver anniversary this year.

Peter Swiderski has been a resident of Hastings for 18 years and mayor for 5-1/2. Before that, he was a trustee for six years. He has had two children pass through the Village school system and has a wife who teaches at Temple Beth Shalom. During the day, he works for a brokerage firm.
